2018 Travel Wishlist

This year, one of my resolutions is to travel to 5 new countries. I’m hoping to do some serious travel this summer and perhaps some shorter trips during the rest of the year. Here are 10 countries on my list that I would love to visit!
1. Norway

Doesn’t it just look amazing?! I know Norway is super cold and rather inhospitable in the winter, but in the summer it’s 24 hour sunshine! I’d love to visit Lofoten (pictured above), Preikestolen, Jotunheimen National Park, Bergen, Geirangerfjord, Trolltunga, Svalbard, and Oslo.
2. Turks and Caicos

Flights to Providenciales are ridiculously cheap and look how clear the water is! How could I not go?? There are plenty of places to stay, both in terms of resorts/hotels and more casual Airbnbs. All I need is a swimsuit, a good beach read, and some shades!
3. Indonesia

Originally I planned on going to Bali with my friend in March. But given the volcano eruptions on the island and the giant ash cloud hovering above it, I think my trip is going to be postponed until further notice 😦 Bali is one of those amazing places that is relatively cheap to get to ($750 roundtrip doesn’t sound bad!) and so affordable to stay at! Between the rice fields (pictured above), beaches, and waterfalls, it seems like a slice of paradise.
4. French Polynesia

To be honest I don’t know barely anything about French Polynesia other than that it has cool beach huts (pictured above) and is in the middle of the Pacific. But honestly, what else do you need? If only I could afford to stay at one of these luxury resorts!
5. Switzerland

There has been talk of a family trip here this summer. I’d love to visit the big cities like Geneva and Zurich and Bern, but what I’m really excited for is the mountains! I want to go to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn (pictured above), Interlaken, Lucerne, Laggo Dello Stabbio, Valais, and Verzasca!
6. Zanzibar (Tanzania)

One of my best friends is going to be in Madagascar with the Peace Corps, so Zanzibar is on my radar because it’s the closest tourist-y destination to his country. I hear it’s got beautiful beaches!
7. Portugal

This place looks like paradise!!! I’d love to visit Lisbon, small towns like Sintra, as well as beach towns like Lagos and the rugged Azores islands. The colorful houses and crystal clear blue water look so inviting!
8. Iceland

The Land of Fire and Ice is calling! One of my dreams is to go here in the summer when the nights are only 4 hours long and go for a road trip around the Island. Everything looks so lush and verdant there…seems like paradise to me!
9. Nepal

Hiking Everest? Probably not. But trekking the Annapurna Base Camp circuit? Heck yes! Nepal is expensive to get to, but I hear that once you’re there it’s pretty cheap. Almost all of my family vacations in the States have been to the mountains out west, and I’d love to go abroad and see some more!

10. Australia

As you might have noticed, this year I’m really drawn to two things: water and cool rock formations. I know it sounds simple but seriously, nature is so awe-inspiring! I would love to see the 12 Apostles (pictured above) and go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, but I would also love to check out some cities down under like Melbourne and Sydney.
